Uber Like Platform for People with Disabilities

Development of the web and iOS/Android solution CaringHub, that allows instant and self-controlled disability services for people in need.

The Problem

“There aren’t any 24/7 services that find & notify nearest available disability workers."

People often rely on their disability providers but the problem with this is that it's not an instant or fully transparent solution.

Our client realised the need for a more dynamic and insightful way that brought choice, freedom and quality of life for both recipients and support workers through use of mobile and web technology.

The Solution

A web & mobile platform that connects local support workers & disabled people, fast.

Our client came to us with a very specific list of needs which included: transparency, compatibility, control of money and schedule, reviews and lower administrative margins.

Idea Box joined the project at an early stage which allowed us to contribute to the business model design by assisting them with useful technological insights.

As a result, we built a reliable and ready for market platform that ticked all the boxes, worked around the clock and required minimal support and administration.

Find Nearest Available Support Worker

Location-based on-demand services require not only good mobile skills but also advanced backend development. Having worked on similar projects before, we knew exactly how to do it.

As a result, we built a system that:

  • Handles compatibility
  • Notifies nearest available support workers
  • Finds next available worker upon no-response
  • Is aware of phone battery consumption

Browse, Schedule & Manage Services

Besides the location-based on-demand capability, we also built a catalogue-like browse & request option.

This allowed recipients to browse support worker profiles, see reviews and provided services, post requirements as a job for everyone to see, and provide control over hourly rates.

Auto Split Payments & Invoicing

CaringHub is deeply integrated with the Stripe payment gateway which securely handles all money transactions as well as client credit card and support worker bank account details.

We carefully crafted a solution that allowed our client CaringHub to seamlessly receive a commission on each transaction.

Support worker payouts were handled carefully to make sure they were paid fairly and we also added additional rules within the platform to prevent non-paying clients.

Twilio Integration

Twilio is a service that allows advanced user engagement capabilities with in-app voice calls, sms & video calls.

We strategically integrated with Twilio to provide the best user experience possible by allowing clients and support workers to contact each over when appropriate, without creating any privacy issues.

Client/Agency Connections

In some cases, client NDIS budgets are handled by agencies so we created the capability for clients and agencies to connect on the platform.

If clients are already in the database, they can simply send an invitation which an agency can choose to accept or decline at any stage.

Once connection is made, agencies can pay for services on behalf of the client.

Dispute Management

No matter how well a platform is designed, there will always be end-user disputes. With this in mind, we made sure our client CaringHub was well-equipped to handle disputes fairly and easily.

CaringHub admins are notified upon dispute requests with the option to resolve disputes from the admin resolution centre module.
